The mission of the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance (GHFA) is to serve the people of Georgia by enhancing their well-being through educational and outreach programs that promote healthy practices consistent with the principles of family medicine.

The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance is the only charitable organization in Georgia whose objective is to improve access to quality health care through initiatives and programs lead and supported by the care and generosity of family physicians. We rely on the leadership, support and generosity of family physicians and corporate donors to fulfill our mission.

History
Founded in 1987, the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance, formerly known as the Foundation of the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians (GAFP), is the philanthropic arm of the GAFP and a charitable public foundation recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Our non-profit status makes the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance eligible to receive grants and tax-deductible gifts and contributions. It also is an affiliated chapter foundation of the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation (AAFP/F) based in Kansas City, MO, the nation’s second largest medical specialty association. Through the Georgia Healthy Family Alliance’s relationship with the AAFP/F, it’s able to share resources, including support and technical assistance.
Accountability
The Georgia Healthy Family Alliance is governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of up to 14 members including family physicians, corporate representatives and Family Medicine residents.
